Madeline & Ori Shir
Shir Glassworks
Fall Rittenhouse Square 2025
Shir Glassworks combines the inspirations of Madeline and Ori Shir to create uniquely whimsical and intricate glasswork. Madeline's focus is flamework, shaping glass at a torch. Her creations range from sculptural ornaments to miniature figurines. Ori specializes in furnace glass, using patterning to create sculptural and functional art. Their collaborative sculpture incorporates furnace, flamework, coldwork, kilnwork and multimedia for installation.

Many of Madeline's processes are inspired by her signature piece, the octopus, with amorphous movements that resemble the qualities of molten glass. Her artwork draws inspiration from the qualities of glass while pushing artistic elements to become conceptual features within a design. Ori’s use of surface pattern and colorwork bring the art to life through elements such as woodgrain and honeycomb, bird feathers, and kaleidoscope patterning. From fantastical to functional, Shir Glassworks highlights the beauty of connections within the natural world.
