Monique Rancourt Jewelry
Crafts at the Cathedral 2026
I think of jewelry as sculpture for the body, inspired by the traditional adornments of Africa and Eurasia. I aim to create dynamic forms that feel powerful and personal, combining traditional metalsmithing techniques in sterling silver with natural stones and leather. Completed pieces become an alchemy of pattern, texture, and fragments of memory, evoking the transformation of nature over time. Repeated hand-formed elements shift in size to build organic compositions, while detailed textures reward closer inspection. These forms accumulate into larger, dramatic structures, establishing an urban, tactile edge that balances tradition and contemporary expression.
