Spring Rittenhouse 2026
Since beginning my woodturning and carving career, my primary focus has been on hollow forms, boxes, and small, finely crafted artistic pieces. These intimate works—such as pin cushions and birdhouses—have allowed me to explore the use of colour and texture as essential elements of design.
The addition of embellishment to my work has greatly influenced and strengthened my sculptural practice. I carve full-sized raptors, a process that demands extremely fine detail and multiple layers of colour to achieve a realistic and lifelike presence.
As my work has evolved, commissions for birds of all species have become a regular part of my practice. I also create burial urns for those seeking a meaningful heirloom to honour a loved family member or, in some cases, a cherished pet. These pieces are thoughtfully designed to hold ashes in a beautifully handcrafted form that reflects care, remembrance, and respect.
My inspiration comes from the beauty of the natural world that surrounds me, and I strive to capture its detail, character, and spirit in every piece I create.
