I am inspired by nature, in particular wood, when alive as in living trees, when no longer alive as in deadwood, and when transformed as in fire and ash. I am also inspired by the interaction of earth/clay with fire and ash. By selecting various clay bodies I am able to explore how the elements of the clays interact with the fires and ashes. While some variables are controllable, others are not, and the resulting wood fired pots reflect this tension.
