I am fascinated with the music of light - its rhythms, its melodies, its coloratur and harmonies, its compositions, counter-point and balance. Light has a point of view, illuminating space and forms - it has depth and invites us in - lastly, it has exhuberance, touching not just our mind but our heart and soul! That fascination begins with the miracle of an image developing from light - a solar exposure, a darkroom tray, and even with a digital image being laid down
The Architect’s (and water-colorist’s) eye... Formal education including graduating the ISU College of Design in Architecture - a discipline all about design - space, form and light, and how we interact with it and it with the environment. It is where the water-colorist emerged. It has been said that you can see the water-colorist’s and architect’s eye in my work.
Today, my brilliant daughter has taken over the mantel of Architecture, and I have returned to this journey with light. We often find ourselves in discussions about design, aesthetics, and even the business of art and architecture. I hope that, in my work, I can help you, too, see the music.
