I'm a shipwright, boatbuilder, educator and woodturner. In Maine I was employed at some of the finest yards on the coast. I was senior shipwright on USS Constellation in Baltimore and director of the boat shop at Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia. Over the summer I teach boat building at the WoodenBoat School in Brooklin, Maine. For the past four years I have been passionately exploring the craft of woodturning. I hand-turn primarily locally sourced wood to make functional art for everyday use, including bowls, cutting boards, and ornaments. Each piece of wood tells me the shape it wants to be. As a result, each piece is unique. I am inspired to bring out the natural beauty of the wood.
