Emily is a watercolor artist living and working in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Her work narrates her experience overcoming struggle and finding strength with autoimmune disease. On the surface, her work celebrates a collection of hands. Yet underneath the layers of paint and pastel hold the history of memory and emotion. Her work reminds her that she's not alone because our hands are our tools; a universal language. We carry so much that others don't see. And while we can't always choose the burden, we can decide how to carry it.
