As a child I studied ballet, then modern, jazz, tango, and salsa. Later I brought my passion for dance to my work, finding inspiration in nature, ripples on water, the swooping arcs of canyon walls, the texture of bark, the cresting foam of a wave. Silver lends itself to movement, both mechanically through hinges and links, and texturally through hammering, chasing and oxidation. With so many options in the metal alone, I feel no need to lean into the 'bling' of stones. Instead, I used natural materials like shells and leather, but also raw and oxidized copper. I use only recycled silver and steer clear of heavily mined precious stones for that reason as well. My passion is for quality and simplicity inspired by that which dances!
