Vito Desario Woodturning
Crafts at the Cathedral 2026
I like to say “I used to cut film. Now I cut wood.” For 40 years I was a well-known NYC film editor. In 2020 I retired and my journey as a woodturner began. In a one-man shop located in Woodstock NY, I create one of a kind vases, hollow forms, candle sticks, objects of art and more.
My work has been described as elegant. Clean with simple lines that have an ease and flow. A timeless modern aesthetic.
Most are hand rubbed using a mixture of organic oils that create a warm glow to the finish piece.
I generally work with ash, cherry, maple and oak. All of which is from felled trees found on my land or locally sourced within the Catskill Mountains.
