Chelsea Villegas
Brookdale Park Fall 2026
My work is rooted in a fascination with nature, history, and things made beautiful through age and imperfection. Inspired by botanical forms, antique textiles, aged wallpaper, folk art, and handmade objects, I create layered paintings that feel both familiar and imagined.
Using oil paint, cold wax, drawing, and collage, I build surfaces where flowers and leaves emerge through fragments of pattern, fabric, pencil marks, and unexpected details. I’m interested in the places where painting and drawing, abstraction and representation, and past and present overlap.
Each piece is meant to reward close looking, a small world of color, texture, and pattern where new details reveal themselves over time.
