As a trained architect, I am naturally inspired to find the perfect balance between art and engineering. The equilibrium between creativity and science was unbeknownst to me when I first started making ceramics, but I fell in love with the craft after it quickly became obvious that there were plenty of calculated risks to be taken during the creative process. I am driven by the desire to learn how to predict the chemical reactions to the glazes to create beautiful finishes on the pieces, how to understand the limitations of the clay to form unique shapes, and how to build and improve upon my knowledge to create stronger work. Every new kiln opening drives me to create and learn every day.
